Counter Area
.
The counter runs across the back wall and has two double hung windows above, one over the sink and one over the stove.
.
.
Starting on the left counter, there is a chrome dish drying rack, a knife block, and sometimes we see cutting boards leaning against the wall. The sink has a nice tall chrome faucet, and behind the faucet there is a chrome rack with cleaning utensils, a row of succulent plants on the windowsill, and a small framed piece of stained glass on the right leaning against the window. On the middle counter, in front of the window is a container of cooking utensils, a red timer, a small decorative plate leaning against the wall, and the items that Martin uses to brew his coffee. It includes a lucite water filtration pitcher, a metal canister holding the coffee grounds, and a Moka Pot stovetop espresso maker (He finally gets a countertop espresso maker in S3). Above this counter is wall space that usually has some type of art. In this series there is a small B&W beach print, and a wooden towel holder is mounted on the wall below. Later in the series, the picture was removed from the wall and set on top on the radio on the counter to the right. On the stove is a very modern stainless tea kettle and another one that might be an electric kettle. On the widowsill are a couple of unidentified items and a few more succulent plants. On the right counter are various bottles that may contain oil, vinegar, sherry, whiskey (?) An antique radio sits on this counter and there looks to be some type of metal rack on the counter in front. At the far end (in the corner) are various unidentified items with glassware and serving ware on the shelves above. The shelves below the counter seem to house pots and pans and round bamboo steamers.

S3 with new dishwasher starting in E2
.
Starting from the left is a wooden cabinet that has open shelves on the left and a single door on the right - although it only looks like that in S2. In S3, it is cleared out and frames a white dishwasher. But that only lasts one episode, because in Episode 2, part of the storyline is that Martin is installing a new, silver dishwasher. But then, in S4, there's yet another new white dishwasher. For S5, it's replaced by an under the counter fridge - they used a similar, but different small fridge in the pantry in previous series. Then in S6 (and continuing through S9), a dishwasher is back in this spot - another new silver one. (A new tall fridge is on the other side of the room.)
.
Next is a traditional farmhouse sink. It sits on a wooden base with a small cabinet door at the bottom.
.
Then we have a wooden 2 door cabinet.
.
Next is the stove. There have been 3 different stoves - they were changed in S4 and S5.
.
At the far right are a lower open cabinet with 3 shelves and then a lower one door wooden cabinet. Above this last cabinet (that sits right against the side wall) are 2 shelves built into the little alcove.

The lower cabinet on the left has been removed and a white dishwasher is now under the counter - for Episode 1. In Episode 2, part of the storyline is the new dishwasher that Martin installs, so there is a new silver one there for the rest of the series. On the left counter, despite the fact that there is now a dishwasher below, the chrome dish drying rack remains. On the end of the counter are the round bamboo steamers and a few condiments - tabasco, soy sauce, and maybe vinegar or oil. The chrome rack with cleaning utensils is now on the right side, on the left side is a white pitcher holding cooking utensils, the framed stained glass is now in the middle - leaning against the window, and some tall cruets are on either side. A tiny item was seen on the window crossbar all through S2, but we finally got a better look at it in this series - it looks like maybe a metal snail? On the middle counter is a silver espresso machine, a black & silver tall coffee grinder, 2 silver coffee canisters, and a black electric kettle. On the wall above is a framed beach scene (it was in the Back Left Corner of the Living Room in S2) and below is a sepia print that is mostly hiding behind the espesso machine. Starting in Episode 4, the lower picture is taken from the wall and put on the right counter, leaning against the wall. On the windowsill above the stove are an assortment of bottles and other items, including a triangular cheese grater. On the right side sits one of the Small Buddhas. But, halfway through Episode 1 it moves to the Consulting Room - and then returns to this windowsill in Episode 3 and remains there for the rest of the series. The little red timer is just to the right of the stove. The right counter holds several different items including the knife block and a tall lamp. This lamp is identical to one in the Consulting Room this series - but with a different shade. The picture that was on the wall to the left was moved here in Episode 4 and it's part of a set of 3. The other two moved around on the side wall and starting in Episode 5, one of them moved to the counter to lean against the side wall.

The change in this series is that a tall tile backsplash has been added across the back wall. There is also yet another new dishwasher - another white one - and a new stove. The chrome dish drying rack remains on the left counter, along with a short wooden candlestick lamp with a red shade, and a marble cheese board. At the beginning of the series, the knife block and the white pitcher holding kitchen utensils are there, but they move back and forth to the other end of the counter. Starting in Episode 4, the knife block remains on the middle counter and the utensils remain on the right counter. On the windowsill above the sink, on the left are a couple of the silver coffee canisters and a small shallow bowl. On the right is one of the brown bowls that contains some round items. Starting in Episode 4, the brown bowl disappears and there are two glass vases with painted flowers, a short red & gold metallic looking vase, and a pair of canning jars that I suspect hold coffee grounds and sugar. On the crossbar of the window is a miniature mantel clock. On the middle counter is another new silver espresso machine, the black electric kettle, and the knife block. In this series, on the wall above is a large landscape painting. On the windowsill above the stove are a pair of glass jars holding what looks like pasta and grains, a couple more of the silver canisters, and what appears to be a seltzer bottle? The little metal piece that looks like it might be a snail has moved from the crossbar of the left window to the crossbar of the right window. The right counter has the white pitcher of utensils most of the time, but in an early episode had a red cup filled with pens. There's also a wooden tray, some glass jars containing maybe flour or grains, a rectangular lidded woven basket, an antique radio, and a tall lamp with a red shade.

In this series, the dishwasher has been replaced with an under counter fridge, and there is another new stove. The dishwasher from S4 has been moved into the pantry. The left counter still has the chrome dish drying rack and there are also an assortment of cutting boards, serving trays and dishes, and a green pitcher. On the windowsill above the sink is a cute flat wooden chicken leaning against the window. There are a couple of stacked grey plant pots on the left, a pair of short green glasses (votive lights?), a silver canister holding utensils, a red painted tin canister, a white pitcher, and a few small unidentified items. On the crossbar of the window is a small metal bird that was first seen in the Consulting Room in S3. The middle counter has another new, very fancy, commercial style, black espresso maker. The electric kettle is nowhere to be found, but a counter paper towel holder and a chrome toast rack are there. On the wall is an antique photo of the lifeboat being pulled through Fore Street in Port Isaac. This photo was in the Living Room in S2. On the windowsill above the stove is an egg-shaped chrome timer and the two black & silver tumblers that were in the Consulting Room S1-S3. In a couple of scenes, a small black radio sat in the middle of the windowsill. Hanging from the lock on the window crossbar is a small red wooden heart. On the right counter is the knife block, a red Venetian glass candle holder, a large white baby bottle warmer, a white pitcher and cruet, a round orange tray leaning against the side wall, and a brass stick lamp with red shade.

Several changes this series. The tile backsplash has been removed and it looks like the new backsplash is made from the same material as the black counter. The lower wooden cabinets have now been painted in a light grey color. The fridge under the left counter has been replaced again by yet another silver dishwasher. The open shelves under the right counter have always had some kind of wallpaper on the front of the shelves, but this series it is now scalloped to match the upper open cabinets and it appears that it may match the wallpaper in the pantry. On the left counter is a white pitcher with flowers, two of the brown bowls, and a warrior statue. I think this statue was one of three that were in the Consulting Room in S4. The warrior also moves back and forth to the windowsill above the sink. In Episode 3, the flowers disappear and the empty white pitcher remains. In Episode 7, the pitcher and bowls are gone (the warrior is on the windowsill) and the antique radio that was on the hutch this series is sitting on the counter. On the windowsill above the sink, the two stacked grey pots are still on the left, the warrior statue is sometimes there, the radio from the hutch is there for a couple of episodes, there is a bottle of dishwashing liquid, a scrub brush, and two white pitchers holding utensils - one plain white and the other with painted fruits. We also sometimes see a baby sippy cup and bowl, a pair of wooden salt and pepper shakers, and some of the small apothecary jars. On the window crossbar, a small clamshell is there most of the series. Sometimes it's propped against the window, and sometimes lying down. It matches one on the shelf above the coat rack. The middle counter has yet another new silver espresso maker, the knife block, a small blue teapot, and a few glass canisters. On the wall is a small pastoral painting with a Tramp Art frame. This is one of a pair that was in the Living Room in S5. On the windowsill above the stove are a white ceramic coffee/tea pot, an egg cup, a glass bottle with painted flowers, a small bean pot, and in Episode 3 the little metal bird moves there from the hutch across the room. The items on the right counter change a lot during the series. The little blue teapot, wooden salt & pepper shakers, silver egg shaped timer, baby monitor, and the large espresso maker all spend time there. There is a new Moka Pot for making espresso on the stovetop, a silver electric kettle, and starting in Episode 4 a new large silver toaster. The woven basket from S4 is on the top shelf.

No appreciable changes in this area for S7. On the left counter, there is a new silver Dualit toaster (a very expensive toaster) and sometimes the wooden salt & pepper shakers and the toast rack are there. Otherwise, its kept pretty clear except for when it's being used for food prep. Martin added a hook on the corner to hold a kitchen towel. The sink windowsill still has the two stacked grey pots, the warrior, and a few of the small apothecary jars. In addition, there is a neat row of various colors and sizes of small glass bottles. Also, hiding behind the bottles appears to be one or both of the small clamshells that were here (and above the coat rack) from the last series. A round lock has been added to the window on the crossbar. The espresso maker moves over to the right counter for the whole series - probably because Martin isn't living there. The middle counter has the two white pitchers holding utensils that were on the windowsill last series. We also can see the small blue teapot, a new silver electric kettle (that moves between here and the right counter), a glass canister, and some other unidentified items. The small painting on the wall is the matching one from last series. These two small landscapes in Tramp Art frames hung together in the Living Room in S5. On the windowsill above the stove is the painted glass bottle from last series, the green pitcher that was on top of the fridge in S6, the silver egg shaped timer, and a small covered pot. There is another new silver espresso maker and it spends the entire series on the right counter - again, probably because Martin isn't living there. There's also a new silver electric kettle that sits here or on the middle counter, and a few unidentified items. The woven basket is still on the top shelf.

The left counter holds a large bowl with a tall arrangement of dried flowers - although it disappears for Episodes 7 & 8. There are other small items that come and go on the counter, including the marble cheese board. The towel hook on the corner remains, and two additional blue decorative hooks have been added on the wall between the counter and the door. On the windowsill above the sink, some returning items are the two stacked grey pots, the warrior, the small apothecary jars, and a couple of the colored glass bottles. Additions are a tall clear glass bottle with a cork, a small pot, one of a pair that had been in the Waiting Room S5-S7, and a small hanging dish scrubber. On the window crossbar are three intriguing items - they look like they could be moth balls or tiny eggs? On the middle counter, the espresso maker only makes an occasional appearance - it stays mostly on the right counter. There is a new black knife block - and behind it, partly on the windowsill, are the two white pitchers filled with utensils. There are also several new mint green items - a short and a tall canister, and a rack with hanging utensils all with matching mint green handles. This rack occasionally moved across the stove to the right counter. The painting on the wall above is unchanged from the previous series. The items on the windowsill above the stove are mostly unchanged from the previous series - the green pitcher, the painted glass bottle, the small covered pot. There is also a small brown glass bottle, and in a couple of scenes, the matching small pot that we see in the other window - in one shot you can see both of them. On the right counter is the espresso maker (most of the series), a new small black toaster, a new silver electric kettle, and the woven basket still on the top shelf.

On the left counter, the large ceramic planter is there from last series. It is there in Episode 1, disappears for a couple of episodes (it appears in the pantry in Episode 2) and then is back on the counter in Episode 4 and remains there the rest of the series - although the plants in it change slightly as the series goes on. In Episode 2 and Episode 3 there are 2 completely different plants sitting in that space. Also usually on this counter are the wooden salt and pepper grinders, the toast rack, a marble cutting board, another marble cutting board leaning against the wall, 2 tall amber tumblers, a small green glass covered jam pot, and 2 potted succulents. The 2 blue dish towel hooks remain on the wall next to the counter. The stainless dishwasher is the same one that has been there since S6. On the windowsill above the sink there are several new colorful bottles. Two are vintage glass bottles, one in the shape of a grape cluster and the other in the shape of a fruit basket. I found photos of a couple of similar bottles online. There is also a light green wine bottle, one of the brown apothecary jars holding the dish scrubber, a stoneware pitcher (holding utensils) that has been there since at least S6, and a tall cobalt blue pitcher. On the window crossbar are a skinny starfish and two glass bottles. In some shots we can see those 3 mysterious items from last series that look like mothballs? On the middle counter, are a couple of tall glass bottles, a fabric covered jam jar, a light green covered glass jar, the butter keeper, electric kettle, and a decorative cork place mat leaning against the wall. Hanging on the wall above is the small landscape in the tramp art frame that has been there since S7 The windowsill above the stove includes two items that have been there since S7, the tall green ceramic pitcher holding utensils and a smaller ceramic lidded jar. There are also a couple of tall glass bottles and a couple of spice bottles. On the right counter is a new stainless hanging utensil holder (the one last series held utensils with light green handles), the same espresso maker that Martin has had since S7, the metal coffee canister, and several assorted bottles. The blender is seen on this counter in several episodes. On the shelve above and below are the same assortment of bottles that we have seen every series. The woven basket still sits on the top shelf.

Back Right Corner
.
The Back Right Corner of the Kitchen is the area between the hall door and the counter that stretches across the back of the room. There are pictures hanging on this wall in some series and the wall is sometimes blank. Because the hall door is usually open, it sometimes blocks the view of pictures hanging behind. In this series, the drawing of what looks like a teacup, but with a clown face (?) hangs above the electrical outlet. Starting in E6, the small painting appears below the cup picture.

In this series, there are 3 paintings that seem to be part of a set in the corner. In Episode 1- 2 there is nothing at all on the wall. In Episode 3, one of the pictures shows up on the right side of the wall - you can see here that it matches the lower one on the back wall. In Episode 4, a new one is hanging just above the electrical outlet. Martin is blocking the view, but the one that had been hanging on the back wall is now on the counter leaning against the wall. In Episode 5, the one that was hanging right above the electrical outlet is now on the counter leaning against the wall. The one still on the wall is just visible behind the door.

Front Right Corner
.
This is the area between the hallway door and the small bump out that separates the Kitchen from the Living Room. There is a radiator covering the bottom half of the wall and the top half sometimes has a piece of artwork and is sometimes left blank. In S2 there was no artwork on the wall. In some scenes, the chrome and canvas chair sat in front of the radiator - this was either the one that was often on the opposite wall (next to the pantry door) or there are a pair of them.
