While Martin has worn a handful of suits with patterns (mostly pinstripes or subtle checked
patterns), most of the time he wears either a dark blue or a light grey suit. Because of challenges
in viewing the episodes with various lighting conditions, its impossible to tell if he has several
blue or grey suits in different hues. One suit can look very different from scene to scene because
the lighting can change depending on where he is standing in a room - not to mention the
differences with outdoor lighting!
So, I've taken some liberties. If I see a dark blue suit that doesn't seem to have any pattern, I've
labeled it #02. If it is a light grey suit (they have a slight pattern/weave to them), I have labeled it #04.
As we have read, Martin lost weight before filming Series 6 and then fell ill shortly after the
beginning of filming and lost even more weight. He has mentioned that the wardrobe staff
needed to alter his suits and purchase new ones. It seems that they purchased two new suits
(#13 & #14) that he wore almost exclusively during the last 4 episodes of Series 6. The only other
suit he wore during those last 4 episodes was a dark blue one, so I suspect he had that suit
altered. He did not wear the light grey suit in any of those episodes, which is very unusual. In
Series 7 he only appeared to wear dark blue and light grey suits, so it appears that they were
probably newly made suits for Series 7 to accommodate his new, trim figure.
