Martin is upset with Louisa and the busy lifestyle she maintains. He thinks she should be resting more and working only three days per week. She on the other hand has every intention of not only working full-time but will be applying for the now vacant Head position. Martin is so opposed to her getting the job that he makes his opposition known to other members of the Board. Martin has to treat Mr McLynn who claims to have recently lost the use of his limbs. It doesn't take Martin long to learn that the man has been wheelchair-bound for years but it takes a minor accident with Mrs McLynn at the wheel for him to finally realize what is going on. Edith is still after Martin to return to London and recommends a therapist to help him with his phobia.
