Martin has to put up with Molly O'Neal, the new local midwife whose patients include Louisa. She convinces Louisa not to take the antibiotics he has prescribed. Molly is something of a feminist and it isn't obvious whether she has the bigger problem with traditional medicine or just with the fact that Martin is a man. Martin has been working on his phobia and seems to be making some progress. He hears from Edith Montgomery that the position in London will be available in six weeks time - provided he can convince everyone his problem with blood is a thing of the past. Meanwhile, Al and Bert Large have to deal with Marigold Marley, whom they've hired as a cook and who seems to specialize in preparing roadkill. Marigold is something of a flirt and Bert takes a shine to the married woman. Their liking of wild game however also means Martin's services will be required.
