Louisa's office

The interiors for the school have mostly
been shot in the primary school in
Delabole.  For this episode, they decided
to locate Louisa's office in one of the
rooms in the actual old school building
that has always been used for all exterior
shooting.  (This building now houses The
Old School Hotel and Restaurant).

They used the windows facing across the
harbour so that Louisa could look
worryingly across the harbour at the
surgery because she was fretting about
leaving James.

Robert spying on Aunt Ruth

We see Robert Campbell spying on Aunt Ruth in the village.  Robert is
standing on the overlook on Fore St, just up from the Golden Lion.  Aunt
Ruth is parking her car next to the outdoor patio at the slipway.  After
Robert leaves the rose in her car, he stands inside the Fish Cellars and
watches her return to the car.

When Aunt Ruth and Caroline are
sitting in the cafe discussing Radio
Portwenn, I originally thought they
had to be somewhere on Fore St
overlooking the harbour.  But in
looking at possible locations I
couldn't find any matches to the view
over Caroline's shoulder after
Robert drives away in his car.

I finally found the spot - it's at the top
of the village and in a building that
was recently expanded and currently
houses Hooper and Shaw.  

Notice that in the picture on the
right, although the angle isn't exactly
the same (I can't control the Google
truck!), you can see the view of
Khandalla across the harbour
matches.  You can also see the
streetlight, the road sign just to the
left and the roof and chimney that
you can barely see at the bottom of
the window behind Caroline.

you rotate the Google camera and
you can see the square window that
would have the view down the road.

Robert is standing next to

binoculars.  Aunt Ruth is
parking her car next to the
circle at the bottom.  When
she returns to her car,
Robert is watching her from
inside the fish cellars just
across the street (circle just

We see Robert waiting in his car and then following Aunt Ruth over a
bridge and then to her farm.  I found this bridge over near Rough Tor and
the quarry.  There is the bridge on the left that has a weight limit and just
to the right is the road that drives through the stream. The level of the
water in the stream can vary and sometimes can be crossed in a car, but
other times would be too deep.  

This spot has been used two other times by the Doc Martin crew.  The
first time was in the movie, Doc Martin and the Legend of the Cloutie,
when the customs agents get their car stuck in the water.  It will again be
used in S6E8 when Penhale is rushing Martin to the airport and he drives
through the stream.

Lunch with Martin & Aunt Ruth

Aunt Ruth's birthday lunch was in a restaurant called "Irina's" located
inside the Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel.

This hotel has been used several times in the production of Doc Martin.  
The initial interview when the Doc comes to Portwenn, during the hunt
for Mrs Tishell when she kidnaps James, and for Martin & Louisa's
wedding reception.

On the way to work one morning, Mike comes up behind Louisa as she walks down Roscarrock Hill and asks if
he and James Henry can walk with her.  She tells him she is running late for work.  Immediately after, Bert
stops her to complain about Becky's review of his restaurant.  This all takes place right next to the entrance
to Bert's Restaurant.  You can see the plant-covered archway on the far right of the screenshot where Louisa
is talking to Bert.

As Louisa is walking home from work, Bert is sitting on the steps to the
aquarium right on the platt.  Louisa sits down with him and they discuss
what she can do to help his business recover from Becky's bad review.
The aquarium is in the same building as the Fish Cellars and is reached
up the flight of stone stairs on the side of the building.
