The opening scene shows John Slater getting into his dinghy from his large boat. This boat is moored in the harbour in Padstow. He is seen leaving the harbour and heading out to the sea to travel northeast to Port Isaac. In several later scenes we see Martin talking to John in the harbour. In the screenshot below you can see the building behind Martin matches the one picture of the harbour on the right.

Louisa is lust leaving Rose Hill and turning up Fore Street with a surfboard when Martin greets her and runs up to help with the items she has dropped. After a short conversation she continues up Fore Street.

After Louisa walks away with her surfboard, Martin looks out over the harbour and sees John Slater crash his dinghy onto the beach. Martin sees this as he is standing at the wall the runs from the pub. He starts running down to the beach, but instead of running down to the bottom of Fore Street and around, he takes a shortcut. There is a small walkway next to the pub that leads down to the patio behind - the village cannon is on this patio. From the patio he runs through a passageway that exits right onto the Platt next door to The Mote. This passageway is the one with the "Crab and Lobster" sign and is where the characters in the show usually walk to enter the pub. The doors to the real pub are on the other side of the building right near where Martin was standing when he saw John's accident.

Martin runs into Aunt Joan on the street where she is unloading her vegetables at the grocers. He tells her about meeting John Slater. As she is telling him to say she's out of town, John comes around the corner behind her. They are standing near the corner of Fore Street and Back Street and John walks around the corner from Back Street.

After Martin leaves Aunt Joan and John, he walks a little way down Fore Street and stops next to the tall wall just past the entrance to the school parking lot. As he turns back to look at them, Melanie comes up the hill to give him the cake she has baked.

Aunt Joan and John walk on the beach talking about their lives since they last met. The circles below show the approximate areas where they are walking. The tide was out and they walked among the fishing boats.

We see Al walking down Rose Hill, turning down into Dolphin Street and running into Elaine standing there between the two houses (the one on the left is Louisa's house - we see her living there in Series 2). The girl pack walking up Rose Hill sees them kissing as they stop at the metal rail at the top of Dolphin Street.

After Al starts his relationship with Elaine, we see two different telephone calls that he makes to her while his dad sits in the van on the outskirts of the village. This was filmed on a small winding lane that leads from the top of Church Hill to the Port Isaac Mill.

Martin walks up to Mark while he is changing a tire on his police vehicle. He discusses the problem he is having with Melanie and the crush she seems to have on him. The vehicle is parked right across from the police station and next to the row of cottages that open out at the back to the harbour. Louisa lives in two of these cottages in Series 3 and Series 4.

Two different scenes were filmed at this location near the sea on Aunt Joan's farm: The scene with Aunt Joan and John having their picnic, and later Martin comforting her as John sails away. These were both filmed at the same location they have always used for the farm, but across the fields and near the bluff overlooking the sea. An interesting note is that in the last screenshot where Martin is hugging her, a stand-in is playing Aunt Joan. Stephanie Cole was there for most of the filming, but in the scenes where the boat with the red sails is visible, the actress must not have been available, so they use long shots so that you cannot see her face.
